Smith the Alien

As a live band, Smith the Alien, comprising Cam Walker (guitar,
vocals), Jonny Pipe (bass, vocals) and Dan Lee (drums), have been
active since mid 2006. Originally, however, Cam initiated Smith the
Alien as a solo recording project in the late '90s – completing three
demo albums of material prior to the first group-recordings in 2006.
The playfulness and willingness to experiment, that characterizes Cam’s
solo recordings, is clearly evident in the band. Energetic, tuneful and
catchy, Smith the Alien’s songs are tightly structured assemblages,
differentiated by exciting shifts in tempo, volume and melody. The
result is a distinctly contemporary-sounding pop-rock that is full of
surprises. In Cam’s own words, ‘song styles vary widely and wile
variedly.’ Smith the Alien recently finished shooting a video for their
new song Asphalt Princess, and have recordings in progress for upcoming
releases in 2009.
