Canadia was born as the bedroom studio band of Ashley Noel Hinton. After the recording of Beg Steal and Burrow

Ashley recruited his former bandmates from Gestalt Switch Rachael Botur

(bass) and Blair McPhee (guitar), along with cool guy Will Wood

(drums). Canadia is based in Auckland, New Zealand, except for Blair who

is studying the mythical dinosaurs of Africa. This makes them a

four-piece in theory but a three-piece in concert.

Canadia means alt-country guitars, hot licks, warm harmonies, cool

bass lines and ice cold brews. It’s energetic drama pop with a head full

of melodrama and a gut full of 90s swagger. Oh wait I already said

melodrama.

If you want Canadia to be your friend then maybe have a think about

how you like to be approached by someone new. Do you prefer bold

assaults of wit and hair, or are you a fan of notes under the door and a

lot of creepy hanging around
