Under The Radar recently had an email chat with Liz from The Hairdos to get some background on the band and to find out what 2010 had in-store for them.

How are you?

Regal

Can you give us a bit of background on your band, like, how long have you been together?

We played our first show on Halloween about 1 and a half years ago at Ariki St party central.

Who is in the band and what do they play?

Renee keys / sings, Liz drums / sings, Luke bass / sings

How did you meet?

We all like beer

Why did you decide to form a band?

Auckland needed us like a horror movie needs a bucket of blood

What have you been up to lately?

Recording, playing, planning

Do you have any releases out or on the way?

We've recorded with our friend Wayne Gordon, with Karl Stevens from the drab doo riffs and recently with Naz from Somme in a beautiful old library! 

How do you write your songs?

One of us comes up with a riff or in my case a beat and lyrics then we all jam it out till it sounds cool

Where do you draw your inspiration from?

Dreams, haunted houses, drinks and blood.

What’s your favourite thing about touring?

Local bands, op shops and friends in far away places.

Who are you favourite bands to play with?

Somme, Gaytime, Full Fucking Moon, The Spunks, Mothers of Darkness, Precious McKenzie, Piece War

If you could collaborate with any band who would it be?

The Mysterious Tapeman

What was the album that first got you into music?

Sonic Youth confusion is sex, L7 Bricks are heavy, Bikini Kill s/t, Black Sabbath Masters of Reality

What are you listening to at the moment?

White Magic, Black Sabbath, Electric Eel Shock

What does the future hold for The Hairdos?

Organ, drums, bass and Japan.
