Happy Birthday Sohomo!

Happy Birthday Sohomo!

Friday, 12th September 2008 12:00PM

The Auckland club night that needs no introductions is celebrating it’s 1st Birthday this October. After one year of fortnightly events in Auckland and quarterly events in Wellington Sohomo celebrates its status as one of the world’s most avant-guarde club nights, with one hell of a party!

Here’s the goss:

NUMBER 1
Sohomo’s 1st Birthday
Friday 17th October, 4.20
Feat.
Bang Gang Deejays (SYD / Modular Records)
&
Bang!Bang!Eche! (CHCH / Last NZ Show)

Bang Gang Deejay’s are Australia’s most famous DJ troupe. Originally coming from a Sydney Club night with the same name they’ve broken dance floors across Australia and spurred a music revolution. Their ‘Light Sound Dance’ mix CD of 2007 (known simply as LSD) has become a cult release for the Modular label (home to The Presets, Cut Copy, Ladyhawke and a never-ending catalogue of music). This gig will feature, Dangerous Dan (Clothing Company Tsubi Head), and Gus Da Hoodrat. They’ll be playing in support of their new modular compilation release, “D is for Disco E is for Dancing” – check out the teaser click here

Bang!Bang!Eche are a four piece band from Christchurch who have played at Sohomo six months ago. Since then they’ve had a string of number one’s on Bnet stations all over the country. This Sohomo gig will be there last New Zealand show before they move to New York to play the prestigious CMJ music festival in New York and begin a new record contract. Big Congratulations to them!

And a big congratulations to Paul Phillips and all involved for creating one of Auckland’s best club nights in possibly forever!
