Premiere: Auckland's Dual Share Reflective Video For 'Interlude'

Wednesday 31st May, 2017 10:53AM

Auckland psych-dance duo Dual have unveiled a new video for 'Interlude', a glistening cut pulled from their recently released debut EP. Using footage taken from the sprawling Internet Archive, the clip juxtaposes images of the New York skyline, children riding bicycles, clouds captured from a plane window, commuters spilling from a busy train station, parched roads through mottled canyons, and families at the beach. In an email to UTR, bandmember Jamie Pyne elaborated on the mood they were tying to capture with the clip...

"We wrote this song when we were both travelling on other sides of the world, I was in India and Maurice was in New York when I sent him the guitar recording and he instantly picked up on the homesickness/nostalgic feel.

"We wanted to recreate that feeling with a compilation of old footage, so we edited the video kind of with a narrative but not really. Hopefully the viewer can take their own meaning from the music/video combination and it makes them feel all gooey on the inside, but sad at the same time."
