Wednesday, 24th June 2009 5:41PMJe Suis Animal are part-British and part-Norwegian. Conceived at art school in the UK, the band settled in Oslo in 2004 and began shaping a sound — melodic, catchy and dreamy.
Their fetching mix of 80s indie and playful 60s psychedelia result in striking and uncannily beautiful tales of murder mysteries, Nordic explorers, and primitive art. Attracting comparisons to C-86, My Bloody Valentine, Stereolab and Nico, Je Suis Animal’s début album "Self-Taught Magic From a Book" is full of disarming melody and hypnotic instrumentation.
