Album Review: The Ruby Suns - Fight Softly
Friday, 19th February 2010 9:17AMThe oxymoronically titled Fight Softly is also somewhat of an oxymoron itself, certainly in regards to The Ruby Suns previous release Sea Lion. Of course, anyone who has read interviews with Ryan McPhun about this new album will know that if not purposely distancing himself from the sound on Sea Lion, then he was certainly aiming for something different. And maybe ‘something different’ is the best introduction to Fight Softly, as apart from retaining a familiar calypso flavour on some of its ten tracks, the album is overall something new.
