Press Release:

Local rockers Clap Clap Riot have announced a nationwide tour this May and will be joined The Scare, an Australian based band that have found success not only throughout their homeland, but also in the UK. The tour will feature shows in Auckland, Wellington, Lyttleton and Dunedin.

During the tour fans will get a taste of material from Clap Clap Riot’s debut album due for release later this year including upcoming single Yoko Ono. Produced and engineered by 2009 Tui winner Andrew Buckton (Best Engineer), Yoko Ono see's a new direction for the four piece with an abstract take on failed relationships and popcorn.

Clap Clap Riot embody a sound clash between the seething, gritty guitar riffs of rock n’ roll, laced with infectious toe tapping pop melodies.

It's a little known fact that Clap Clap Riot was actually the name of the applause machine designed by John Lydon for the show Top Of The Pops in the early '80's. Filth Magazine

Previous single releases Don’t Want Your Baby and Thief have lead the band to be compared to international rock n’ roll patriots the Hives and Franz Ferdinand.

Their debut EP TV Knows Better has received great acclaim in New Zealand with Clap Clap Riot receiving the Best Unsigned Artist Award via the 2009 Myspace People’s Choice Awards, and recognition as a future award winner at the 2009 NZ Music Video Awards.

Following the New Zealand tour, Clap Clap Riot will tour Australia with The Scare in June/July.
