La De Da New Year's Eve Festival Hits Martinborough

Wednesday 30th June, 2010 10:00AM

When it comes to New Year's Eve festivals, coastal towns around the country usually get inundated with music fans ready to soak up the sun and lap up the vibes. Obviously though, the lower North Island feels like it's missing out a bit because a brand new NYE Festival has just been announced in the very quaint, but very popular town of Martinborough. Called La De Da, the event has attracted the creme de la creme of New Zealand's laid-back, summer bands, such as; Salmonella Dub, Kora, Katchafire, Holly Smith and more.

So if you fancy a bit of a change from the usual New Year's Eve party by the sea, you could do a lot worse than head to Alana Estate in Martinborough for La De Da.

PRESS RELEASE

LA DE DA FESTIVAL HITS MARTINBOROUGH THIS NEW YEAR’S EVE!

La De Da is Aotearoa’s newest music festival, and the only place to be this New Year’s Eve.  Party-goers from all over New Zealand will make the pilgrimage to Martinborough, just one hour’s drive from central Wellington, for a New Year’s experience like no other on 31 December, 2010.

Set amongst Alana Estate’s beautiful vineyards, La De Da boasts a massive lineup of the country’s finest bands, artists, and DJs, and promises to be one party not to be missed!

"We launched La De Da because we truly believed there was a need for a New Year's Eve music festival in the lower North Island,” says Festival Director Josh Mossman. “The response so far has been great. We have put together a mix of New Zealand's finest bands that scream variety and cool! La De Da will have a chilled out winery vibe during the day, smash it during the night with some dub and roots heavyweights, and after Midnight our electronic lineup will keep the party going until the sun rises.”

La De Da festival goers will be seeing in the New Year with a kiwi lineup second to none, with the huge live presence of roots/dub/rock act KORA; the chilled out reggae vibe of KATCHAFIRE; the rich and soulful tones of songstress HOLLIE SMITH; NZ’s most loved roots / dub act SALMONELLA DUB; hot new roots /dub / drum & bass act SIX60; the country’s premiere electronic act MINUIT; the big sounds of drum & bass act THE UPBEATS (LIVE); drum & bass / dubstep production powerhouse MT EDEN DUBSTEP; Northland reggae act 1814; blues, rock, country and roots champions THE THOMAS OLIVER BAND; and renowned DJS NICK D and CLARKE GAYFORD.

"My goal is for every single La De Da festival-goer to have an intimate and personal La De Da experience, but still be awed and humbled by the sheer magnitude of ending this decade amongst 12,000 likeminded others,” says Mossman. “Alana Estate has hosted some of the biggest international names in the industry for concerts at their winery, but now it’s time to show this beautiful venue something new. We’re going to kick off 2011 with an explosive party like they have never seen before.”
