Lawrence Arabia and The Prime Ministers
The Greats of New Zealand Cricket Tour

Snedden, Kuggelijn, Pringle, Latham, Sua, Harris, Germon, Chatfield...

Names that will ring down the ages as titans of New Zealand Cricket, warrior-poets of the green oval whose exploits on the pitch etched New Zealand's name permanently into the glorious pewter chalice that is top-level Test Cricket.

These men of the moment, clad all in white, except for the legendary black cap, strode onto the playing arenas of the time in a hallowed hush. Girls and boys abandoned their childish play and doffed their Cancer Society approved legionnaires' caps in respect of their idols, demi-gods of bat and ball – Patel, De Groen, Vance, Ervin McSweeney.

For four wonderful nights in December, Lawrence Arabia and his band the Prime Ministers would like to invite those in the four main centres and environs to join them in celebrating these sporting gentlemen of yore, and share in what will be Lawrence's first New Zealand shows in twelve months.

Since then the acclaimed Chant Darling has been released in the UK/Europe and North America, where pragmatic neo-liberal Murdoch-owned broadsheet The Times declared it to be “classy, intelligent pop-rock… lyrically it’s fabulous,” while middle-aged men's music/movies mag Uncut said: "the sublime harmonies mark Milne(sic) out as a master pop classicist.”

Not wanting to rest on his laurels (for example – the APRA Silver Scroll and the Taite Music Prize) Lawrence Arabia has begun recording a new album, and songs from this will be previewed among the older material in the set. There will be harmonies, gentleness and noise, and token references to the theme of the tour.

Fresh from scoring a century of their own (over 100 live shows this year) Lawrence Arabia and The Prime Ministers are well and truly ready a. To Rock and b. To Celebrate New Zealand Cricket Greats.
