Undertheradar and 95bFM ridiculously excited to present the return of Wire!!

Credited with pioneering the postpunk genre in the late seventies Wire have continued to release music well into the 00s including a brand new album out late December/January titled Red Bark Tree. You can download a new track from the album "Two Minutes" HERE along with a bunch of older tracks too.

Saturday 15th January 2011 ~ Kings Arms Tavern

Founded by Colin Newman (vocals, guitar), Graham Lewis (bass, vocals), Bruce Gilbert (guitar), and Robert Gotobed (drums), WIRE have - since their inception in 1976 - been considered one of the most innovative and consistently relevant groups to emerge from that time.

Credited with being part of a movement that transformed punk into something now known as “post-punk”, the group have been recognised as one of the seminal groups of the late seventies and early eighties - with three universally acclaimed albums: 1977's Pink Flag, 1978's Chairs Missing and 1979's 154 - ensuring that Wire is a name that will never be forgotten.

With bands as varied as R.E.M, Minor Threat and Guided By Voices all citing Wire as a direct influence, there can be no argument that the return of the band to our shores is an event to get very, very excited about.

Expect to hear tunes spanning their entire impressive career - from their earliest material, to 2008’s incredible Object 47, and of course the forthcoming LP Red Barked Tree. The line-up for this tour will include original members Colin Newman, Robert “Gotobed” Grey, Graham Lewis and touring member Matthew Simms.(It Hugs Back) - with Gilbert currently not recording or touring with the band.
