Rhythm & Vines 2nd update

THOSE IN the know have voted…. Rhythm & Vines is the only place to be for New Year!

Nearly 14,000 tickets have been snapped up by people from all over the world who want to be in the best place in the Southern Hemisphere to welcome in 2007. R&V is gearing up to be another ripper.

Organisers of the Gisborne festival today (Thursday) released the inclusion of UK dance act Crazy P (live) in their already celebrated line-up, along with Hollie Smith, Opensouls, the Electric Confectionaires, One Million Dollars and Brazilbeat Sound System.

Crazy P are one of the world’s premier live dance bands, fusing house, disco and jazz. They are fresh off the festival circuit in the Northern Hemisphere, and their only New Zealand performance – at R&V’s Waiohika Estate – is set to ‘be the highlight of their tour’.

Hollie Smith is the name on everyone’s lips after her stella performance at the NZ Music Awards last month. Her husky, memorising vocals speak from the soul and are set to send shivers down the spines of all, resonating throughout the vines.

Opensouls have this year released their debut album Kaleidoscope to critical acclaim, and are set to be one of the hottest live acts of the summer.

“It is fantastic to continue to provide a wide selection of acts to entertain our guests and bring in the New Year,” said music director and festival founder Hamish Pinkham.

“We have had a huge interest from musicians wanting to perform at Rhythm & Vines – it just shows the strength of Kiwi music at present.”

Rhythm & Vines has been flying the flag for NZ music since its inception three years ago. The festival has become reknown for hosting established and up and coming Kiwi musicians who perform in front of thousands of ecstatic revellers in the unique summer setting.

This year R&V have secured a number of internationals with the intention of extending the festival to cater for a variety of musical tastes.

The Gisborne New Year festival still has a few key acts to release, but the only tickets left are limited to special reserve. These tickets feature VIP treatment throughout the 24-hour party in a special secure area, a glass of wine on arrival and tapas, with the best views on offer at R&V.

Last year tickets to R&V became gold, trading on the internet for many times their face value.

The festival has quickly cemented itself as a safe and fun place to celebrate New Year. Last year it drew only praise from police and other emergency services that supported the event.

The rest of a sure-to-be stellar line-up is due to be released at the end of November and promises only to add more value to an event talked about all year by so many across the ages and throughout the globe.
