Real Groovy Wellington To Close

It  has just been announced that Real Groovy Wellington will close it doors for good on May 31st. A stock sale has commenced and all concert tickets have been taken off sale as of midday today (April 1st).

Mark Thomas, proprietor since 2008, explains the reasons for the closure...

"It is no secret that the entertainment industry is in a state of turmoil and change, and we have faced two and a half years of recession, intense price point competition, declining prices/turnover, and increases in downloading and file sharing. And all of this in the face of either unchanged or increasing expenses."

It's been a sad week for the once thriving brand as owner of the Christchurch branch also announced that his store would not be reopening. He posted the following on the stores facebook page...

“ it is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that Real Groovy Chch will not be returning. We have been informed that our building is to be demolished and it is very unlikely we will be able to retrieve ANYTHING!! I would like to thank all my staff past and present for all the work put in to making our store what it was…”
