Album Preview: The Gladeyes - Shadows Explode

Thursday 21st April, 2011 10:50AM

The Gladeyes have just today released their second, and maybe last,  album Shadows Explode via Little Chief Records.  The albums follows up their brilliant 2009 debut Psychosis of Love and features ten tracks of sweet pop goodness with a hazy summertime feel which will certainly come in handy over the winter.  The duo will be taking an indefinite break after the release as one of them heads overseas to live.

We asked the girls to pick a few tracks from the album for us to stream which you can do below and here is a little intro to each song...

Honey Pie - The album opener, a song you might listen to when you realise you were the one in the wrong after a fight with the one you love.

Exploding - The last song on the album, it's more abstract lyrics and dynamic distorted guitars riff around the idea of the end of things.

Short Stays Long Curls - Probably the most minimal song on the album - a lone lilting guitar and vocal pay homage to doing what you know you shouldn't.

Your Fool - Distorted poppy guitar, with layered vocals.  This is one of my favourites on the album because we can all relate to being a fool in love.  Right?!

Underwater - Will often make a certain band member sing the theme song from the Snorks after we play this one during practice.

To listen to more follow the link below to their album on bandcamp and if in Auckland there is a release party tonight follow the listing info below for more info.
