No more Big Day Out tickets!

NO MORE BIG DAY OUT TICKETS
The final release of Big Day Out tickets sold out through Ticketek and Auckland retail outlets this morning.
A queue formed outside Real Groovy yesterday afternoon with a few hundred punters camping out in Queen St overnight to make sure they were at the doors when the store opened at 9am. By early morning that queue had snaked all the way down the street behind the store. Online and telephone outlet Ticketek reported that it had sold out of tickets by 9.15am.
“No more tickets for sale,” confirmed Big Day Out promoter Campbell Smith.
Smith also confirmed that the promoters had managed to add more tickets to the final release by adding the ‘dead wood’ tickets returned from South Island outlets.
“It’s quite clear we haven’t satisfied the incredible demand for tickets this year but we’ve reached a capacity of 44,000 at Mt Smart stadium that authorities and the police have agreed will ensure that all zones in the stadium remain comfortable for the Big Day Out.”
So that’s it. No more jokes about not accepting wooden coins or wisecracks at emo kids’ expense. It’s down to business. Pack your sunscreen, your cellphone and your hat. It’s time for the biggest day out of the year.
