The Adults Unveiled - Announce Album

Friday 6th May, 2011 9:10AM

Last month a mysterious video emerged from The Adults on youtube featuring Jon Toogood, Shayne Carter, Ladi6 and Gary Sullivan. We quickly established it was Jon Toogood's new project and now further light has been shed on the project with the announcement of an album to be released in June.   The list of collaborators is quite imperssive, here is the PR for the release...

Press Release:

After 22 years at the helm of New Zealand’s most loved rock band, Shihad frontman Jon Toogood has built up a treasure trove of musical connections. Lucky for us they have now collided, resulting in one hell of a project.

With a vast collection of musical ideas and a bit of downtime, Jon began work on a project which has now become The Adults, a celebration of his work with some of New Zealand’s brightest talents and an iconic Kiwi album in-the-making.

The Adults are Jon Toogood (Shihad), Tiki Taane, Shayne Carter (Straightjacket Fits/Dimmer), Anika Moa, Ladi6, Julia Deans, Gary Sullivan (JPSE/Dimmer), Nick Roughan (Skeptics), Ruban & Kody Nielson (The Mint Chicks), Warren Maxwell (Trinity Roots/Little Bushman), Ricki Gooch (Trinity Roots) Redford Grenell (Shapeshifter) and Steve Bremner.

With their debut, self titled album set for release on June 20, The Adults have given us a preview of what is to come with the tasty sweet soul of ‘Nothing To Lose’ which has gone on to become a #1 Alt radio hit and YouTube favourite.

‘One Million Ways’ (the first official single) is one of the many standout tracks – infectious and epic in equal measure. Other highlights include the Anika Moa lullaby-esque ‘Sleep Me Tight’, good friend Julia Deans on the optimistic ‘New Beginning’ and co-pilot Shayne Carter on ‘Most Important’. The result is a collection of songs - beautiful in its eclecticism.
