2011 Mercury Prize Nominees Announced

Considered one of the most credible music prizes around, the nominees for the British based 2011 Mercury Prize have been announced. Awarded to the artist or group with the best album of the year, the nominees are a typically diverse bunch. Last year's Mercury Prize was won by The xx while the 2009 award was taken out by Speech Debelle.

The nominees for 2011 are:
