Dunedin's Radio One Will Not Be Sold

Dunedin's Radio One Will Not Be Sold

Monday 8th August, 2011 9:46AM

Recent efforts to save Dunedin student radio station Radio One from being sold have been successful. Last month it was revealed that the Otago University Students' Association (OUSA) were considering selling the station as an austerity measure in the face of Voluntary Student Membership (VSM) after a recommendation from Deloitte.

The following was included in Radio One's weekly e-letter...

'In the last month Radio One has had a multitude of meetings and conversations with executives, industry types, members, deejays past and present and people that were generally concerned about the corporate recommendation to sell our beloved station. We received over 140 submissions on the matter, from an outstanding array of individuals, that were passed on to the decision makers.

The team at Radio One are so very happy to let our subscribers know, that today we got the word that RADIO ONE IS NOT FOR SALE.

Thanks to you all for supporting the station, the employees and it's concerned listeners through this difficult and uncertain time.

Long Live Radio One!!!'
