In The Background: The Chemical Brothers - Hanna

In The Background: The Chemical Brothers - Hanna

Thursday 1st September, 2011 12:30PM

In NZ cinemas this week is a new flick from Director Joe Wright (Atonement) called Hanna. It's overall a pretty dark film that follows a young super assassin (Saoirse Ronan - Atonement, The Lovely Bones), raised in isolation by her rogue CIA agent father with an agenda. Officially dubbed a thriller it has some perfectly executed moments of comic relief, and best of all for our purposes has an excellent original soundtrack composed by The Chemical Brothers.

Wright first worked with The Chemical Brothers early in his career, creating visuals for them and other electronic acts big at the time like Underworld.

The soundtrack is pretty subtle for the most part, with a couple of Chemical Brothers-esk moments including one which showcases the band and directors past relationship so well that we felt we could have been watching a Chemical Brothers show or music video.

Here is a snippet from the aformentioned sequence...
