Friday Flashback: Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra - Some Velvet Morning

Friday 18th November, 2011 12:56PM

The daughter of Frank Sinatra and the man with the best baritone drawl ever, make up one of the most intriguing musical duos in history. Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra are not only style icons of their era but also helped meld country and western music to the psychedelic movement of the 60s - retrospectively dubbed 'Cowboy Psychedelia'. No song typifies this more than the classic duet 'Some Velvet Morning', written by Hazlewood and used as the theme for Nancy's television special Movin' With Nancy.

Here is the official video for the track which was released in 1967...

As with all good tracks, 'Some Velvet Morning' has been covered numerous times but none better than Primal Screams version with Kate Moss released in 2003.
