Live Photos: The Dirty Three, The Powerstation, Auckland

"If Peter Jackson can get 10, 000 hobbits to walk along, surely he can get some decent chicken in New Zealand." That gem was just one of many from Dirty Three front man Warren Ellis across the course of what was nothing short of an absolutely incredible show. The band played songs across many of their albums and a couple from latest release, Toward the Low Sun and Ellis' leg kicks (not to mention his violin playing) kept us entertained while Mick Turner and Jim White worked away studiously. Ellis' love-hate relationship with Ikea was seconded only by his joke about rabbit farts ("what's invisible and smells like carrots?"). Will Bailey went along and snapped away, which you can check out below.
