Sunday, 12th August 2007 3:45PM
The founder of Factory Records and the Hacienda Nightclub has died aged 57.
Tony Wilson was most responsible for the Manchester scene in England, kick starting the careers of timeless bands like Joy Division, New Order, Happy Mondays and countless others that followed.
Wilson started as a TV presenter, but often featured bands in the growing post-punk scene. He helped to popular and manage many bands (variously selling millions of records and also going bankrupt due to his unique business style).
