THE KINGSLAND VINYL APPRECIATION SOCIETY PRESENTS
A FLIP AND TWO TWISTERS
Funny how vinyl ‘comes back’ every few years isn’t it? It sure seems that way if you only hear about it in the newspapers, but folks like The Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society have never stopped spinning the stuff, and now it’s supposed to be the saviour of the music industry. Again… A Flip And Two Twisters doesn’t have such big ambitions to right the supposedly sinking ship, rather it’s a collection of unreleased and rare Kiwi tunes that The Kingsland Vinyl Appreciation Society can play when DJing at gigs and parties around the country. It’s not just that though - you can listen too at home (or just leave it lying around so your mates think you’re getting into the DJ buzz).
A Flip And Two Twisters is a well-compiled, and good-looking, collection spread across double gatefold vinyl that includes cuts from local heavyweights Shihad, The Mint Chicks, Jakob, High Dependency Unit, and The Fanatics alongside up and coming contenders James Duncan, Body Corporate, and Yokel Ono as well as some retired champion pugilists in the form of Straitjacket Fits, Meterman, The Never Ends, and The Subliminals. That should be enough to tell you if you want this… but let’s add the extra incentive of a whopping ten tracks that have never previously seen the light of day – let alone the darkness of wax – and you’ll be queuing up to get your hands on this wee bugger.
Like the kinetic and rhythmic Len Lye sculpture that is its namesake, A Flip And Two Twisters will leave you mesmerised, but as it is pressed in limited quantities and available right now, you best get cracking and pick up a copy quick-smart…
