Apra Silver Scroll Award Finalists

Apra Silver Scroll Award Finalists

Thursday 10th July, 2008 12:00PM

Be a part of New Zealand music history. The APRA Silver Scroll is the most prestigious music award in the country and only APRA members have the power to decide who wins.

As the only peer voted music award in New Zealand, this award is no popularity contest or industry competition. Peer voting for the winner of the APRA Silver Scroll is all about songwriters recognising the outstanding achievements of their cohorts and honouring the craft of songwriting.

As the 2007 Silver Scroll winner, Brooke Fraser says: "It is humbling to accept an award from my songwriting peers".

APRA Members it is time to elect your 2008 songwriting champion. Your vote will make a difference so be sure to have your say! Voting closes Friday 1st August.

By voting, you will also be in the running to win a Deluxe Silver Scroll evening: flights for two to Auckland thanks to Stage&Screen Travel, two seats at a prime table for the Silver Scroll Awards and a Five-Star Fling package thanks to the Langham Hotel, which includes luxury accommodation, bubbles on arrival, breakfast for two and a late check out the next day.

From over 200 entries, our group of expert judges has created a preliminary top twenty as listed below; each song and their accompanying lyrics are included below for your review.

Remember the APRA Silver Scroll is judged on pure creative criteria and the music and lyrics are to be considered in equal proportion. The commercial success or otherwise of a song is not important.

The five finalists as determined by APRA members will be announced mid August and the winner will be presented the Silver Scroll Award at the Auckland Town Hall on Wednesday 10 September 2008.
