Clap Clap Riot - TV Knows Better
Debut EP from Clap Clap Riot loaded with instant little dance rock gems, and while this genre has been tampered with over the last few years this recording seems to be taking its cues from some of the leaders like Franz Ferdinand and The Rakes and I think a little of The Hives even to some extent Aucklands extinct D4.
There's no doubt it’s a pop album that is looking to catch large radio/video audiences but there doesn’t seem to be any masquerading as to their intentions.
CCRs at their best (hey did I just discover something here...) when they’re playing little riffs with quirky verses and keeping up the tempo like on Hospital Beat, but they're still a little hazy on their larger pop attempts like Thief.
It’s a fun, fizzy, dancy rock album that they seem to have bottled well from their live experience. Even the CD comes with little shakers built in which adds to their fun factor. Good introduction.
