Yeah Yeah Yeahs have put together a shimmeringly fun set of songs which on
first run through puts a blimmin’ big smile on your face, and an
overwhelming desire to smash the local dancefloor with yr best cool moves
– either that, or leaping off the ol’ couch repeatedly while singing along
with Karen O (“your zerrrr-oooo!!”).
This one’s a stonker. It’s like...it’s like an older, cooler sister to the
MGMT album. If the cool club in town was actually a kindergarten, MGMT
would be happy on the mat eating their crayons, while Yeah Yeah Yeahs have
bolted for the door, jubilantly streaking out into the sunshine with
multi-coloured ribbons trailing behind them.
Possibly sounding off to the converted here on UTR (you guys are fans of
the band already, right?) but I’m saying instant classic for 2009 – and
would love to see this lot performed live very soon!
