I was instantly won by this album, warm bass and whisper guitars not too dissimilar to bands like American Analog Set and Mogwai.
It is sometimes good not to be yelled at by a band and It Hugs Back, as the name suggests, gently invites you into their album and with the mix of simplistic movements, even dare I say Kraut Rock moments it’s a very compelling listen.
For the vox think Fleet Foxes or the Dodos and the real differentiator here is how they’ve kept the levels of the music up akin to the vocals offering a soft wall of sound.
I need this on vinyl.
