Back in 2003 in my second year of Uni, I took a class called Hip Hop Culture 101. This fact obviously qualifies me to review the debut album from LA brother duo "The Knux".

'Remind In 3 Days...' was a pleasant surprise from the brothers Lindsey who hail from New Orleans, Louisiana, but moved to LA due to Hurricane Katrina. Even with my illustrious hip hop background, I struggle to find differentiation between many hip hop records.

This is where The Knux rise to the top like the best crema in a fine cappuccino. The beats are solid and catchy while not being overwhelming. The songs seem in my opinion more guitar driven than anything. The pair are a smart team of song writers with a excellent ear for a hook. The first single, 'Bang! Bang' is a kind of hybrid of a sing-along, Transplants/Bloc Party mash up.

My first listen to this was on a long solo drive from the West to the East Coast(old school hip hop reference) of the South Island, which would be one of the best ways to listen. It also wouldn't be out of place on a Sunday afternoon preparing yourself for the asepticism of another week in the office. It's very Krispy.

Key tracks: 'Bang! Bang!', 'Cappuccino' and 'Playboys'
