Introducing the Tiger Tones. A four piece from CHCH which are following tracks laid by label mates Shocking Pinks even now defunct Auckland group Xanadu.

This album, their self titled debut is a testament that the attitude of a recording is the real essence. It starts off with such command and purpose it’s hard not to believe in them straight away.

So I dug deeper, listened on and the whole thing just opened up. It’s a fucken great album. Big thick bass lines, guitar that is finally interesting to listen to, chanty buried vocals and drums that know their place.

Someone once described them to me as a band making live dance music but without the corruption of knowing the dance music of old. Very fitting.

For fans of DFA, NZ Indie dance and good new music
