Could it be? Math rock in the British lime-light? Well yes and no. and more no id say.

The Foals, self declared exact purists, were leaning towards a math rock carreer (you know, odd time signatures, weird layouts, non-danceable) but with the success of some early singles it looks like they’ve changed their tune.

I first heard Single Ballons as a demo and it was absolutely raucous, then a second more produced version popped out with girl chants in the chorus; weird shift but still pretty cool, then the album version with huge guy chants in the chorus, some sub bass thrown in and what could be saxophone ( I know they used this live) but more likely a synth.

And there you have it – the Foals new album is a well produced and well written bunch of songs that still appeals to math rock fans like me and the pop side of things. It gets me giddy.. I love it.
