The Fair is a ‘festive’ day out for the whole community. Out in the Square 2010 features professional musicians and performers, quality merchandise, fabulous food, and sumptuous wine.
Celebrity presenters Steven Oates and PollyFilla, will take you through a line up of entertaining acts and games including the comic stylings of the inimitable Buffy & Bimbo; newcomers from the Wellington School of Rock; crowd favourites, the Drag Kings; New Zealand’s first edgy pop band born out of musicals, Poppy Dust; and the inaugural IkoIko Handbag Hurl!
There’s also plenty of prizes to win, supplied by our generous sponsors.
Proud 2010 Festival
Out in the Square 2010 also launches a fortnight-long festival of events called Proud 2010. The Proud 2010 Festival includes Devious 2010 - Wellington’s largest dance party in decades; champagne and chocolate tasting at Butler’s Chocolate Café; history walks around Wellington City; film screenings at the Film Archive; a summer pool party at the Thorndon Pool; quiz nites; bingo; and picnics … the events canvas every part of the community!
Last year’s Proud Festival was so successful Out Wellington decided to extend it to a fortnight in length and cram in more and more events!
The signature event has to be Out in the Square, but the Devious dance party is really going to give Wellington something to talk about! Three of Sydney’s Mardi Gras’ hottest DJs have been booked to play, including some well-known local talent, and the circus theme has driven the additional entertainment and effects.
