Savvy Promotions and LoveMusic.co.nz in association with MAINZ present an all ages show with The Checks, The Naked and Famous, Clap Clap Riot, and Long Story Short, Saturday 27th February at Ellen Melville Hall, Auckland.

Sometimes it’s refreshing to remember just how much enthusiasm it’s possible to have for music, and you will certainly find the most enthusiastic punters at an all ages show. A love of music doesn’t magically manifest itself at 18 – there’s a large crowd of youngsters with a thirst for good music out there, dead keen to see their favourite bands play live, and Savvy Promotions is here to quench that thirst, the not-for profit organisation bringing fantastic all ages shows to the city Auckland since 2004.

Headlining this stellar line up is The Checks - a band that need little introduction. Having toured across the world honing their blues soaked, vintage indie rock classicism, opening for acts such as Oasis, REM, The Hives and headlining their own shows, the five-piece have been back home more recently, releasing their second album Alice By The Moon, bejeweled with hits such as You and Me, Bagheera, and Ballroom Baby in June 2009. Having graced festival stages such as Rhythm and Vines and Big Day Out with their swaggering rock appeal, they will definitely be getting the crowd hot and sweaty.

Joining them are The Naked and Famous – though not generally naked, they’re on their way to being famous. Having dropped the astounding hit-laden EPs This Machine and No Light in a quick ‘one-two’ sucker punch in 2008, the indie-dance-rock-electronic-punk act went on an eye opening trip to CMJ in New York and followed this up with supporting Nine Inch Nails in Auckland (at Trent Reznor’s request). Having now cemented their live line up, they’ve been back in Auckland recording again, releasing the infectious single All Of This and impressing with their tight live shows, including an appearance at the prestigious new Laneway Festival.

Also helping to get the riot of fun started are Auckland four piece Clap Clap Riot. Their fizzing energy, hook laden songs, whirling guitars and raucous vocals are a perfect combination of rock n roll attitude and pop passion. Having won the MTV Kickstart award in 2008, they released their debut EP TV Knows Better in 2009, gaining quick recognition for their singles Don’t Want Your Baby and Thief.

Kicking off the show will be up and comers Long Story Short. Having formed at the Auckland School of Rock in 2008, the five piece (two guys and three girls) have been busy distilling their influences (such as Paramore, Guns n Roses and Green Day) into their own dramatic sound, and blood pumping live show. They were recently placed in the top 14 bands at the 2009 Rocksquest, and are determined to take their music further into the limelight.
