Netherwood Western Party Fundraiser
Thurs 11th February from 7pm
Sale St, Freemans Bay
Tickets on sale now from Undertheradar
This is no cowboy investment scheme. No, former Shortland St actors Owen Black and Will Hall are upfront about their new movie proposal – “we want your money, and if we don’t get it, the cow will die”.
The two North Canterbury lads are making a good old fashioned western and they need money to do it. And if 300 Aucklanders don’t front up, the cow dies.
The cow is named Netherwood, the title of the boys’ first production. Netherwood makes his first appearance next week for a photo-call at popular Auckland saloon Sale St.
With the help of Sale St proprietor Luke Dallow, the fledgling movie-makers are throwing a western-themed party the following evening to raise funds for the film Netherwood.
And because it’s a western, the producers are promising cowgirls, a range-style BBQ and, if we don’t support the film, the cow is going to have to die.
“This is no idle broke-back threat,” says producer/actor Hall. “We need the cash to fund our movie and if we don’t get it the cow gets it.”
“Actually, the film is already making us broke and the only way we could think of getting the money to make it was to pass the hat around,” Black says. “The only shooting we want is on the set – so please help us save Netherwood.”
Dallow is promising some good old western action. “We’ve got the whiskey, we’ve got the ribs, there’s talk in town of some bull riding – and we’ll save the life of thecow if we get 300 cowboys and girls through the saloon doors.”
For a $10 donation to the film-makers, dudes and dudettes get a couple of drinks, some great tunes from some of the coolest turntable celebrity jockeys around and an opportunity to save Netherwood the cow. We’ll also send you an annual update on the cow’s welfare – if it survives.
Dallow is taking matters seriously. “When these guys rode in to town I could tell they meant business. We don’t want no trouble from these southern boys so mosey on down to Sale St, support the film and have some fun.”
Netherwood – the movie – is a 90 minute digital film begins shooting in the Waipara Valley in North Canterbury in March with a planned release date of September 2010.
