SCARY KIDS SCARING KIDS
w/MOD SUN
...The Final Nightmare !
After 8 years, Arizona's blistering post-hardcore sextet Scary Kids Scaring Kids have called it a day but are going out on a high by mounting a Final Nightmare tour of the paths least travelled while still on top of their game.
It’s a Final Tour, and there’s plenty of giveaways and prize packs to be won. Keep an eye on websites for announcements and details.
The band played their last U.S. date on March 6, 2010 at Soma in San Diego, California and will embark on an Australian/New Zealand tour during August & September to say goodbye in person to all the friends that have ever supported us, end the band on a positive note and start new chapters in our individual lives.
The Scary Kids story is a familiar one most musicians can relate to. A bunch of high school friends form a band in 2002 and release a self financed EP, After Dark. It's what happens next that sets them apart. After attracting the attention of Immortal Records (Korn, Incubus, Rage Against The Machine) they would spend the next 3 years touring their home-made sounds culminating with a coveted spot on the Smartpunk stage for the 2005 Warped Tour.
With a focus on small details that made a big difference, subsequent albums The City Sleeps in Flames (2005) and Scary Kids Scaring Kids (2007) were an obvious departure from the screamo path showcasing the full scope of their seemingly disparate influences to catch even the most jaded cynic off guard.
Scary Kids Scaring Kids are renowned for a reckless, incendiary live show of impassioned post-hardcore and haphazard energy featuring a formidable twin guitar attack interlaced with a synchronized scream-fest!
As pioneers of their genre, Scary Kids managed to avoid tired clichés and build a reputation for an epic sound with complex metal riffs and pounding punk rock structures switching it up from shriekingly spastic to soothingly melodic with a healthy dose of political dissent.
James Ethridge, SKSK drummer in the last few years, didn't take part in the band's U.S. farewell tour. He was replaced by Derek Smith (Four Letter Lie), who opened with his alter ego and hip hop project Mod Sun who will also open the Australian tour with his trademark intimate yet energetic and insane live show
On January 31st 2009, Mod Sun released his first album titled, I'll Buy Myself. The name Mod Sun stands for- Movement Over Dreams Stand Under None.
Sidestepping the subject matter of many a fallen white-boy rapper Mod Sun avoids the cliche's of cars, girls, and money. Instead, this dirty DIY hip hop Jesus takes positive thoughts and feelings and turns them into sound with original beats wordplay and punchlines.
