Attention all musicians: Parachute Music’s next Noise event will be focussed on Live Performance and Touring; giving you input on how to make a big impression on stage.
This informative seminar will be held on August 17 with experienced music industry leaders, so if you’re interested in sharpening your performance skills and learning how to organise and execute a successful tour, we’d love to see you. There’ll be a panel discussion, Q&A time, artist performances, and the chance to connect one-on-one with the industry execs there.

CONTRIBUTORS:
Lorraine Barry: Winning NZ Manager of the Year in 2008 from the Music Managers Forum, Lorraine Barry manages Dave Dobbyn, Bic Runga, Dukes, and L.A. Mitchell. Her business prowess has made her a sought after mentor in the industry, and she has one impressive resume: formerly working as the Director of International Marketing for Virgin Music Group in the UK, and then overseeing music festival WOMAD in 2003.
Ben Howe: Since forming independent label Arch Hill Records in 1998, Ben Howe has worked with a range of iconic Kiwi musos including Don Mclashan, The Clean and Bachelorette. He still manages Arch Hill, and also works as the NZ organiser for popular Australasian indie-music festival Laneway.
Matt Ealand: Organising the annual NZ Schools Tour (which has seen classic Kiwi bands like Steriogram, Wash and Goodnight Nurse gracing college stages around the country), Matt Ealand also runs the Smokefreerockquest. The Rockquest has become a NZ music institution since starting in 1988, encouraging high school students to form bands and hone their live skills.
Jesse Smith: Formerly the guitarist of Auckland rock band Streetwise Scarlet, Jesse Smith is now the frontman of tongue-in-cheek duo The Jury & The Saints. The band have had a whirlwind first year: they opened for Paramore on the band’s recent NZ tour, have had their song ‘Brand New’ selected as the latest C4 promo song, and completed a 12-town tour of the country in May.
