NRG RISING

Fresh Female Funky Reggae Grooves. This energetic & driven band, NRG Rising has been around in the music scene for less than a year and are already making heads turn, people talk and the right people sitting back just noticing as the rising waves swirl among the myriad of talented Aotearoa reggae artists active in the country.

Their unique fresh female sound and harmonies filling a niche market, women in reggae in New Zealand, and their onstage, upbeat, fun and friendly onstage persona is sure to leave you feeling uplifted, and considering the many possibilities in life. Many, just like you are now following this band’s journey with anticipation and excitement. As they are known to say, ‘resistance is futile’ you will be smiling, tapping your feet and knowing that there is something in this music and this sound and you will notice the power and energy. “It’s about bringing something unique to the scene, focus, hard work, commitment, research, marketing and promotion”, says the bands performing manager/promoter, Benita Tahuri (Sistah B).

All evidence points to only one direction for this fresh exciting fun boost of energy to the New Zealand music scene and it is only time now before this band will be heading off shores to share a piece of New Zealand female fronted reggae with the world. As their tag name NRG New Reggae Generation alludes to, this is a new wave, a new way and a new day.

NRG rising is a six piece reggae, R & B band, was founded in April of 2009. Members of NRG Rising include Bevin Hira, Ngati Haua on bass, Benita Tahuri, Anahera-Pono Whakatope (Ana), Harete Whariki Whakatope, (Honey) all of Ngai Tuhoe, Ngati Kahungunu descent and a mother and daughters combination, are vocalists, Jason Davis, Ngati Haua, guitar, and Trinity Blake, Ngati Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine takes his natural place in the NRG ranks as Drummer. PLEASE NOTE: The songs in this player are old and are not a true reflection of the bands ability or musicianship as they were recorded just 2 months after they started with a different line up, however due the fast uprising of the band they have uploaded these as a taste or sample of the style and feel of their music.
The SONG SUMMERTIME PARTY is their Debut Single with an album out before the end of 2010
