I read the comment by hellsbells regarding the Sydney show, and just couldn't resist replying to it. I don't know what you were looking for in a show! If you are a true Steely Dan fan, you would appreciate them for their musical abilities, not for the razzle dazzle of a stage spectacular. I think they were amazing, and my opinion was shared with the crowd around me. I agree that it was a little disappointing that Reeling in the Years wasn't played, but we don't know the reason behind that. I'm sure the band are well aware that it was one of their most successful songs and they would have played it they could have. Spice Girls are coming up early next year. If you're after the special effects as opposed to real music, why not book in early (I would suggest paying that bit extra for front row seats as it's obvious your hearing and eyesight are a little worse for wears these days - with all due respect.

For those of you in Christchurch who havent committed to buy tickets yet - go and do it now.
The Auckland show was great and the sound was supereb.
The band were tight, and enjoying themselves, they played lots of hits
and a great two song encore.
A Chch is the last stop on the tour I am sure the band will out perform the show last night.
I dont know the band that played the opening set but they were pretty good as well.

Just saw Steely Dan last night in Auckland at Vector and it was FANTASTIC. Also a lifelong fan and wasn't at all dissapointed. Don't care about flash stage shows - just the music which was practically perfect. Fagan's microphone could have been a little louder... The lighting was very nice. We had floor seats slightly to the side and couldn't see the horn section at all as they were behind Fagan's equipment but it was still a great night. The only let down was the drunks that kept harassing the security guards to get in front of the stage.

Hi guys, I thought I should add a post after coming back from the Steely Dan concert at the Entertaiment Centre In Sydney.
There was much anticipation being Steely Dan's first concert in Sydney. Tickets were purchased in April 2007. I have been a long life Steely Dan fan and was busting to attend this concert.
Well, what can I say. It would have to be the worse concert I have ever seen. They were glued to the stage, no dynamics, no energy and they never even sung Reeling in the Years and other favourite hits.
At $100 a ticket, it was a waste of money. I would of received more enjoyment renting a Steely Dan DVD and watching it at home.
So for all you people in NZ who have bought tickets, Im sorry, it was a deflater which was the feeling of all the crowd around me.
For those of you that dont have tickets and are chasing some down..don't, save your money for something better.
I am one disappointed fan.
They do a great tribute to Steely Dan at Sydney's Basement which is much better than the real deal.
