Bamboo which delighted a large and loyal following with a repertoire of reggae, swing, rock and soul, is reuniting to make magic again in a one off show 31 years after they disbanded. Seven founding members of the band will be in the line up featuring Hamin Derus on vocals and percussion, Wayne Baird on guitar and vocals, Dave Maybee on guitar and vocals, Liam Ryan on keyboards and vocals, John Dodd on bass and vocals, Mike Abbot on drums and Bud Hooper on percussion. Bamboo was a feature of the Auckland scene in the 70s performing as the opening act at Charlie Grays Island of Real, they payed the legendary Gluepot, they fundraised at Bastion Point, played Nambassa and included reggae in its repertoire long before reagge entered mainstream NZ consciousness.
