The Vic Unplugged

All proceeds will go towards ongoing enhancement to this fabulous live-performance-and-cinema multi-function venue.

Featuring:

The Bads - Dianne Swann and Brett Adams

Rearrange the the first letters of their names and you get B-A-D-S. The Bads. Brett Adams and Dianne Swan have extensive and interesting musical careers. In the 80's Dianne was in the uber-successful When The Cats Away line-up, and Brett was guitarist for Andrew Fagans' band The Mockers (Forever Tuesday Morning). Later coming together as The Julie Dolphin, Dianne and Brett played in Europe with Green Day, Oasis and Radiohead. Their musical influences were always eclectic and solid, from Neil Young to Led Zeppelin, from Ryan Adams to Wilco. Evading all kiwi music stereotypes The Bads present a wonderfully realised and well crafted arrangement of original alt-rock-pop-country ballads.

Jesse Sheehan and The Family of Actors

Jesse Sheehan & The Family Of Actors are a 5 piece alternative rock band heavily influenced by the likes of Leonard Cohen, Radiohead, Jeff Buckley, John Lee Hooker, Nick Drake, Tom Waits and many more. Encompassing some of the greatest musical talent in New Zealand it was founded by Jesse Sheehan in early 2010 after a successful solo career based in Wellington. His music has been applauded as - honest and authentic... totally amazing... the real thing... undeniable talent... an established artist even at this early stage of his career - by key players in the New Zealand Music Industry such as Scott MacLachlan (A&R for Universal Music), Paul Mclaney (Mushroom Music Limited), Brooke Montaperto (A&R for EMI), and David Ridler (Assistant Manager of NZ On Air).

Ellie David & Friends

Ellie David is a young NZ singer songwriter. Formerly of Kaipara College, she writes and performs haltingly beautiful songs. Ellie has picked up awards at the NZ Play it Strange secondary school songwriting competition and continues to perform in support of other young musicians where she can. A lovely voice and strong original songs make for a memorable night.

Gala Morris

Hailing from Devonport, Gala was recently voted winner of the Best Original Song with November in the 2010 North Shore Battle of the Bands. Gala has been developing her talent as a singer / songwriter in an assured fashion and is now an accomplished and confident performer.

Louis and Ella

Louis McDonald and Ella Yellich O'Connor have been wowing quite a few audiences in 2010, playing their own acoustic interpretations of modern classics encompassing soul, and R and B, and eclectic tastes. Their arrangements include material from artists such as Laura Marling, Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, Leonard Cohen, Duffy and others. Louis is a talented drummer, guitarist, and piano player, and Ella is a natural singing talent with a big future.

Also featuring Beren and Shana

Hailing from Devonport, Beren and Shana have been plucked from obscurity (busking in Devonport's main street on the weekends), to performing in support of The Vic and youth music at the inaugural The Vic Unplugged. They mix it up with their own acoustic interpretations of artists like The Black Eyed Peas.
