Gig Information

2pm - 4pm This year’s NZ Music Month seminars will be tackling the question on every NZ band’s lips – ‘how do I get my music overseas?’.
A panel of speakers with international experience will share their expertise and give advice in a series
of seminars that will travel to 4 centres around New Zealand.

David Benge – MD of Australian label Speak ‘n’ Spell, manager of Cut Off Your Hands and Fur Patrol

Tom Dalton – Manager for The Datsuns, Jakob, Pluto and Anika Moa

Brendan Smyth –NZ On Air Music Manager

Gary Fortune – International Manager at NZ Music Commission

Cath Andersen – General Manager of NZ Music Commission

The sessions will be chaired by Teresa Patterson – Manager for Scribe, Blindspott, Elemeno P, Carly Binding and The Have

Topics to be covered include:

1. The first step – who, what, where, how? Who do we speak to, what do we do, where do we go, how do we go about doing this?
2. Overseas touring – how is this done?
3. Trade shows/conferences – are these worth the expense? (SXSW/Midem/CMJ/Popkomm/Muse Expo etc)
4. Funding – what funding is available

All the seminars are FREE
