The Ruby Suns
The Ruby Suns are quickly (if not already) becoming one of New Zealand’s favourite bands, and, having released a brilliant new album, Fight Softly, last year are heading our way to headline New Noise. Ryan McPhun (their prime mover) has the kind of voracious musical mind that cites as equal influences ‘80s New Jack Swing and modern Angolan kuduro, Fleetwood Mac and Britney Spears, Brazilian tropicalia and Argentinean cumbia. Kind of a head-spinning combination of big-picture vision and sumptuous detail that only comes from an artist with an urgent need to express all the stuff he’s seen. And you can dance to it!

Wellington’s indie hip hop man of the moment Tommy ILL will without a doubt be one not to miss. With his great selection of beats and samples an original style of flow and a keen sense of ironic fun Tommy has been making big waves in alternative hip hop, and returns to Christchurch ready for anything, this guy will be awesome.
Street Chant
Street Chant know what being a heavy guitar pop trio is all about. Turn it up loud, hit the distortion pedal and get to the point. Smart but economical,
they are one of Auckland’s best live bands and have notched up a couple of b-Net hits with \You Do The Math\ and \Scream Walk\.

Garden city indie newcomers and winners of last years RDU Roundup band competition, The Guest will be a popular choice for this night, with their high energy guitar infused indie rock stylings.
