This is the show that literally changed the face of percussion in New Zealand (with the aid of a bit of lippy and mascara…)
You may know Gareth Farr as one of New Zealand’s pre-eminent composers for orchestra, television and film, or perhaps as a former percussionist for the NZSO and 2010 Arts Laureate. But in Drumdrag, his gorgeous alter-ego Lilith LaCroix is the star of a show that for 10 years played to sell-out audiences all over New Zealand, and in Sydney, Perth and Toronto.
Coinciding with the launch of the 2nd Asia Pacific Outgames in Wellington, and as a celebration of the first Wellington season of Drumdrag for over ten years, you’ll see a very different side of one of our most talented and iconic locals.
In Drumdrag, accompanied by renowned percussionists Murray Hickman (Strike) and Jeremy Fitzsimons (NZSO), Lilith will thrill you with her dulcet singing tones, quick wit and adept skill at playing a stage full of percussion. Described as Sheila E meets Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Drumdrag combines wild and pounding percussion rhythms with a generous helping of glamour and gender-bending fun.
Lilith has been a cast member of the Lifes a Drag female impersonation show at Club Marcella New York and was named Miss Sweetheart 1995, 1st runner up Miss Gay Upstate New York 1995, and 2nd runner up Miss Gay Rochester 1995. She has won a fashion award at the Trentham Races wearing her own high-fashion handiwork and appeared in television commercials.
