Rosy Tin Teacaddy and Claude Rains play at Bodega on Weds, 30th Mar. 8pm - 10pm. $10 on the door.
A Wednesday evening of quiet folksie goodness plus a decent bedtime. Knitting permitted.
ROSY TIN TEACADDY are Billy Earl and Betty Grey who will be exploring live terrain with songs from their third recording, All Mountains Are Men, due for release in June 2011. Written as recipients of a Wild Creations Artist-in-residence scheme, many of these tunes re-imagine the eruption of Mt Tarawera and subsequent destruction of the Pink and White Terraces, while others are proof of artists in isolation wrestling their own fragility. At once nostalgic and other-wordly, their on-stage symmetry and harmonic blend of voices has built on a reputation for narrative songwriting and lyrical craft, coupled with wit and poignancy.
CLAUDE RAINS are Murray Hewitt (Nylon string acoustic
guitar, mahalo and vocals), Heather Weir (acoustic guitar,
vocals) and Andrew Bain (bass).
Playing folksy alt-country with a little bit of punk, they
formed a year ago. Named after a Front Lawn song, their musical blend of hope, sadness and beauty is inspired by politics, the land and their relationships.
They are currently recording their first album.
