Gig Information

THE WHISKEY LIVE is a series of concerts presented annually by THE WHISKEY bar in Auckland’s Ponsonby Road as a celebration of New Zealand Music Month each May. Featuring a broad spectrum of New Zealand musicians performing one of a kind, limited capacity shows; THE WHISKEY LIVE is fast becoming a headline attraction of New Zealand Music Month each year.

For three decades, the multi-talented, multi-instrumentalist Don McGlashan has captured the ears and hearts of people in New Zealand and around the world. Don was the driving force behind From Scratch, Blam Blam Blam, The Front Lawn and The Mutton Birds and his work continues to offer the soundtracks to our lives.

Don, the singer and main songwriter in The Mutton Birds from 1991 to 2002, released 4 NZ top ten albums (two platinum) and two top five singles, including one No. 1 single The Heater. His song “Anchor Me” won the APRA Silver scroll in 1993. The group signed to Virgin Records UK in 1995, and were based in London from then until 1999, touring all over the world. The band’s third album, Envy Of Angels (1997), made the U.K. Sunday Times ten best records of the year list.
Supporting McGlashan is Greg Fleming, an Auckland based singer/songwriter - he performs live with his band The Trains (Dom Blaazer: Keyboards, vocals, John Segovia: Electric Guitar, vocals. Earl Robertson: Drums, vocals & Andrew B. White: Bass, vocals).
Often cited as being a pioneer of ‘alt.country’ rock in New Zealand, over a decade before the genre developed the ‘cred’ it now has, Greg stands apart with an extensive and timeless body of work.
The line up includes: AHORIBUZZ, Andrew Keoghan, Anika Moa, Annabel Fay, Avalanche City, Barnaby Weir, Bic Runga, Cairo Knife Fight, Che Fu, Clap Clap Riot, Dave Dobbyn, Dave McArtney & Friends, Don McGlashan, Dukes, F IN MATH, Greg Fleming & The Trains, Greg Johnson, Hello Sailor, Jan Hellriegel, Jason Kerrison featuring The Babysitters Circus, Jonny Love, LA Mitchell, Luke Thompson, Motocade, Nairobi Trio, Nathan Haines and the Dream Band, People of Paris, The Peter Urlich Sextet, Ruby Frost, The Jordan Luck Band, The Thomas Oliver Band.

Tickets are limited and go on-sale on Friday 15th April via Ticketmaster – www.ticketmaster.co.nz or phone 0800 111 999. Full show info is available at www.whiskeybars.com.
