YEBIISU - NZ Music Month Tour, May 2011
On a calm day, between crashing Piha waves, if you listen carefully, you may hear the sweet undertones of West Aucklands latest dub-hop band Yebiisu.
Formed in 2009, Yebiisu rapidly came to be known as one of New Zealands most promising and exciting new bands. With a reputation as a powerful and enchanting live act, this Auckland-based 7-piece has drawn fans from all around Aotearoa with a fine blend of tribal drums, majestic horns, and fat stinky grooves... all led by powerfully silken vocals.
Now for NZ Music Month, Yebiisu are venturing out and around New Zealand in May during their first South Island tour exposing their memorable and upbeat tunes and debuting their Self-Titled EP. The band will be bringing a kickass sound system, epic visual show, and DJ support from Shadowmovement (AK).
After recent support slots for international artists such as Groundation (US), Streetlight Manifesto (US), as well as performing at the Kingsland
Festival, the Titirangi Festival of Music, and this years prestigious international reggae event, Raggamuffin 2011 in Rotorua, they are bringing the good vibe to the South Island.
Starting off the tour in their home town Auckland Yebiisu are hosting a show at The Kingslander and a Live to Air performance on Kiwi FMs 31 bands in a box. Then its off to the South Island, visiting Picton, Nelson, Richmond and Takaka before
returning home again.
