Three bands, one from the deep south the other two from just around the corner:
Thundercub
Coming all the way up from Dunedin Thundercub spit out a sound that is visceral and energetic. A thoroughly engrossing explosion of synths, guitars and big hair that end up sounding somewhere in the realm of Shy Child (if their songs were good and were performed by Don Caballero).

Black Science:
While we're at it with unnecessary comparisons in place of an actual description Black Science sound kind of like Huevo-era Meat Puppets covering the Rolling Stones with random bursts of Sonic Youth noise. If you hate comparisons such as this then please disregard that statement and just take my word for it that Black Science rule.
