Surprisingly, The Finance Company haven't actually put on our own show in Auckland since our last EP release in the distant past.
So, here's not just a show, but a show set in a distopic yet awesome FUTURE.
That's right, it's in NEWMARKET - the greatest derelict metropolis in Auckland.
I don't know if you've been to Newmarket lately, but the recession has turned it something different. If I wanted to be specific, I would say it's very reminiscent of Los Angeles circa 2019...
Here are some things that happened in the turbulent past:
-Starbucks - CLOSED DOWN.
-Dan Carter's store - CLOSED DOWN.
-Supre - CLOSED DOWN.
-Lion Nathan - Moved to an off world colony by new owner Asahi (a front for TYRELL CORP).
-Rodney Hide's yellow jacket - IMPALED on a spike outside the steaming corpse of Supre.
Here's some things that appeared in their place.
-DISTURBING public art in the form of mysterious giant eggs.
-Art rapper David Druckman's steampunk MANSION.
-Amazing cheap restaurants from around the (now destroyed) world.
-A pimping yet somehow still distopic RAIL Station.
-LUCHA LOUNGE, the only Christchurch-style venue in Auckland
-Best of all, a secret Russian karaoke bar, with real Russian sailors.
If that's not enough, we will be playing new songs from our FUTURE album, and we've abducted fellow exiled south island band O LOVELY, who will play to pay off their indenture to BAR RUSSIA - where we will of course hold our after party.
So get out of your boring RWC friendly suburb (that includes K road and it's gentrified bridge), get on the train, or do a Cormac McCarthy style walk to Lucha Lounge.
