Acclaimed hazy Californian beatsmith, singer & songwriter Baths in his first ever, exclusive New Zealand show!

An exercise in stargazing synthetics, stumbling rhythmic thuds, incidental found sound, and ghostly falsetto voice, Baths is the musical project of American electronic musician Will Wiesenfeld.

A key member of the new wave of Anticon Record's artists, Baths filters rugged MPC hip-hop production techniques through a chillwave filter. Baths musical oeuvre connects him with both contemporary sound surfers Toro Y Moi and Washed Out, and the modern international bass archipelago beat movement which has given us Flying Lotus, Hype Williams, Samiyam and their ilk.

Described by The Guardian's Paul Lester as like, J Dilla playing around with the Pavement and Prince catalogues, a Baths performance is a decadent sonic treat. In line with this, his debut album Cerulean got the coveted Pitchfork.com co-sign with an honorable mention on the 2010 Album of the Year list, and recent sophomore release Pop Music/False B-Sides looks headed for equal acclaim.

On Sunday the 23rd of October, both Labour Weekend and the final night of the Rugby World Cup, he will make his debut in our country with one exclusive New Zealand performance in Wellington at The San Francisco Bath House.

Support on the night will be provided by our very own undisputed turntable scientist Alphabethead, lauded synthetic songwriters Glass Vaults, eighties synth funk fetishist D:UNK and well regarded, Twitter famous international Polish DJ Marek, purveyor of everything from Beach House to Waka Flocka.

This event is an opportunity to not only witness a bleeding edge international star on his rise, but a chance to see him in context, alongside some of the best young acts Wellington has on offer.
