Prolific recording artist Kurt Vile will play his first and only NZ show in Auckland this December. The Philadelphia native, has released four studio albums since 2008 and is touring in support of his latest Smoke Rings for My Halo released at the start of this year via Matador.
Like much of Vile's work, the new album employs disparate sonic references to create a series of unique tracks likened to everyone from Lou Reed to Animal Collective. Which is apt really, because the latter recently invited him to play the All Tomorrow's Parties' festival they curated, topping off an epic year of touring with the likes of Bright Eyes, Thurston Moore and playing the Pitchfork Music Festival.
