An Uncle Berties Fundraiser

In April this year, around fifty volunteers got together in Wellington to help create The Mysterious Secrets of Uncle Berties Botanarium Part VII. Their efforts included collecting many dozens of mountain bike and fridge boxes from Wellingtons mall carparks, combining coffee and vaseline to create a filmic approximation of a drug made from a ground tarantula, painfully dangling floating cardboard jellyfish from bamboo poles, and painting flowers that looked a bit like boobs.
The resulting short film screened at the NZ International Film Festival in Wellington, and has been enjoyed by hundreds of our friends and parents on YouTube.
Result.
The trouble is: all that was so great, but weve still got to make Parts: I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VIII, IX, X, XI and XII.
Not only do we have to make them, but weve got to write them. This all requires lots more time and unfunded work.
So, we
e putting on a party.
Lawrence Arabia and band are playing their only Wellington show this year.
City Oh Sigh will beguile from within a cardboard forest.
Duncan Sarkies will MC dressed as a crab.
Many of the stars of The Mysterious Secrets of Uncle Berties Botanarium Part VII will be there!
